The village is spread below the top of the Růžový Vrch (Rose Hill) which is wedged between two valleys. The border stream Svidnice runs through a deeper and steeper valley under the northern slope and another much shallower valley forms a natural border between the Rose Hill and the opposite massif of Leseňská pláň (plain). The 16 m high stone view-tower directly on top is the dominant point of the village. The view of the surroundings will inspire every visitor. The views of wooded hillsides of Stone Hill and Fox Hill together with Leseňská pláň on one side and small fields, pastures and forests with scattered houses on the other side (already in Germany) are really worth the effort of climbing the spiral staircase of the view-tower. Next to the tower we can freshen up in a newly rebuilt restaurant Koliba from whose terrace is also a beautiful view of the surroundings. In the village there are some interesting half-timbered houses. The well-preserved church of St. Catherine and the opposite building of parsonage complete the overall positive impression of this likeable village. In the former gallery of St. Nicholas on the north side of Rose Hill there is the Mining Museum where we can see the exposition focused on historical ore mining in this region.
TRIP to the Mount of St. Catherine
A charming village Hora sv.Kateřiny (the Mount of St. Catherine) is located in the picturesque environment of the Ore Mountains near the German border. Despite its location in the administration of former Most district it is not too far from Chomutov. The able-bodied athletes can make this trip by bike, but much easier and faster way is by using a motor vehicle.
