The old chairlift alongside the Jáchymov ski slope offers the hikers an easy surmounting the peak from the southern direction from Jáchymov. Another chairlift is available on the north side with the starting point near the hotel Nástup. An asphalt road leads right to the top and is ended by a relatively large parking lot. The tower of television and radio transmitter rises at the top of Klínovec and in its vicinity there is dilapidated building of hotel and restaurant which used to be much-frequented. A stone view-tower is a part of this building, but now it is also closed. At the exit point of Jáchymov chairlift there is a nice restaurant that will come in handy especially in windy weather. From the top of the mountain we can relish beautiful views predominantly northwardly. We also can visit the nearby village of Boží Dar and sports and spa centre Kurort Oberwiesenthal in Germany.
TRIP TO KLÍNOVEC
At a distance of about 50 km from Chomutov on the imaginary border of the Ústí and Karlovy Vary regions there is Klinovec, the highest mountain of the Ore Mountains. Though its peak rises to 1244 meters above sea level it does not evoke any majestic impression due to the vicinity of peaks Fichtelberg (1215m.nm), Neklid (Unrest)(1099 meters), the Macecha(Stepmother) (1113 m) and Meluzína (Melusina) (1094 m). Many ski slopes visible from a distance on otherwise forested northern slope indicate of the fact that this is a great ski resort. One ski slope on the southern slope does not offer sufficiently good conditions in the current mild winters and is used more in summer by fans of wild descents on mountain bikes.
